This is the idea: When I give you a card with my name, e-mail and phone number. When you 'unzip', you will see my blog address appear.

New Project - Closet with braille covered porselain cups

Afbeelding
I just started working on a new project. It is a follow up from the Wine bottle and the Braille project with the drawings translated.  The idea is:  A closet for cups against the wall. But not like we know them - staying on the ground - but hanging at the wall. The outline is a frame like we know them around a painting.  As a base I want to use my drawings again. The 'world' you can see there I cut it in pieces and describe those pieces with text. This text is invert in braille and the braille will cover the cups. So that on each cup there will be a little piece of a big 'world' readable.  If you have the total work you have a closet full of cups with little pieces of a big 'world' on it. You as an owner/user from these cups can arrange your own 'world'. In most of the cases people with sight are not able to read what is on the cups, so you have the control about it but you have no idea what your doing. This is an interesting idea I like

Development of the Braille project

Here we see the first results. This was the way I imagined it, the form it is in and the characteristic borders are exactly how I wanted it look like. More results will follow.

Try outs!

I always wanted to do something with those colourful string beads. Then I tried to heat them and melt them over a mold, so it becomes some kind of pot. From here I am going to experience more. First result:

Just a thought..

The Braille project - research stage

Afbeelding
When I worked on the wine 'bottle project', I became really fascinated by the 'dots'.  I wanted to examine more about the informative use for people without sight and the entertaining use for people with sight and bring those elements together with art.  First I was looking for an interesting base to start this project with. Since I really like to draw my 'dream world', I wanted let those drawings serve as a base for this project. I want to translate my drawings into text in a poetic way.. This project is in it's research -phase. More results will be posted in the future. (In this post I will share my findings). My inspiration wall A test with silkscreen printing on paper It took a while before I found the right cutter. Here are some results: I have had a few questions left. So I wrote a letter in braille.  To the person who helped me before. (he is blind so I wrote it in braille).

Ceramics - Flower Container

Afbeelding
We got an assignment at school to make some kind of container for any kind of flower. The first thing I thought about was a birdhouse with a flowerpot on top of it. Made a building plan for it: But I changed plans and made something that i s better suited to my vision. I got inspired by something I  saw somewhere at a store: We always buy a plant with a temporary plastic container around it. I wanted to give that plastic container a second life. The idea is: To 'attach' them to each other by shackles. Now I can start produce a lot off them to create a kind of snake or caterpillar. The conclusion of this project is: The containers who normally hit the bin, after the plant is planted. Now they have a second life as toys for kids. They can make a string and fantasize that it is a snake or caterpillar.  Final result: Material: Porcelain

Ceramics- Digital Clock

The idea: Is making digital clock that is actually analog. As material I use porcelain in combination with wood more examples will follow.  Just need a few more te get the four, eight combinations. (88:88) Biscuit, finished. Next step: To mill the holes in a wooden plank, where the pieces fit in. Last week I have been to some kind of wood factory. To see what they have got in store. I have seen some nice pieces of wood with beautiful structures. Here some pictures: My preferences are going out to the Ceder Florida Found out that this is a really expensive kind of wood. Wanted to go for another kind but I fell in love with it's family  the Red Cedar:  This is the (almost) final result. Materials: The parts are made from porcelain,  with a transparent glaze on top.  They lay on a Red Cedar plank. Only thing left is to mill the holes in the plank where the pieces exactly fit in. Going to to that next week. The finishing touch,  a layer of lacquer
